A group of us went on our annual West Ham away trip for the year, this year, it was Leeds. We took an early train from King's Cross, arriving in Leeds around 10.30am. After checking into our hotel, the very comfortable Double Tree by Hilton, we set off to meet Snowy, a friend of Gerkin's at Whitelocks, a great real ale pub.
After a few pints of Ilkley Black, and some roast beef and dripping sandwiches, we headed off for the game, which was inevitably a disappointment. The West Ham fans were held back in the ground for about 30 minutes after the game for policing purposes, which gave the crowd plenty of opportunity to take the mickey out of a Steward!
After the game, we caught buses back into town laid on by Leeds Utd, to go to the Becketts Bank, to meet some of the others who didn't go to football, and to watch the end of the Rugby, watching England beat Ireland.
After this we headed back to the hotel, stopping off for a couple of drinks at The Hop, opposite the hotel, which had some Ossett Brewery beers. We got back to the hotel to change and head up to the Skylounge at our hotel for some cocktails. After this, some people went for a curry, while some headed back to The Hop.
The following morning it was an early start to head home again after an enjoyable weekend away.
