Holiday in Elnesvågen

We're just back from a week in Elnesvågen. We had some good weather that allowed us to do gardening and some DIY. We were also able to travel around a bit and visit some friends for some social visits, and have dinner out in Skaret one evening (and saw the pet goat!). The Autumn approaching meant that the usual array of spiders and beetles were about! A few photos are below, the rest are here:

Walks over Fairlop

The weather has improved a bit over the last few days, meaning we've been able to spend a bit of time over Fairlop Waters going for walks, and taking in the views.

Anniversary weekend away in Bexhill-on-Sea

To celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary, Siv and I spent the weekend down on the South Coast, using Bexhill-on-Sea as our base. We stayed at The Driftwood B&B, just a short walk from the Sea Front and the De La Warr Pavillion
We arrived on Friday night, and after a short walk along the sea front in very strong winds,  sheltering with a drink in The Colonade, we were able to get in for a very nice dinner at Trattoria Italiana restaurant.

On Saturday, we got up and after breakfast headed for a walk along the sea front, passing by The Sovereign Light Cafe, made famous in the Keane song of the same name (Keane are from the area, and the video was filmed in Bexhill). Deciding the wind was too strong to walk into, we turned round and walked with the wind behind us all the way to Hastings, stopping for coffee and cake at the Cafe on the Beach. After a brief walk around Hastings we caught the 99 bus back, and had a quick wander around the VW exhibition outside the pavillion. In the evening we returned to the Trattoria Italiana, as the food had been so good the night before!

On Sunday, after a brief walk along the sea front we headed off and drove to Dymchurch, where we parked. From there we decided to walk to Hythe. As it's impossible to walk all the way along the sea front, we had to head inland via foorpaths following a route I found on the Kent Ramblers website! We stopped for a drink at Botolphs Bridge Inn, before continuing and finding our way into Hythe via the Royal Military Canal. After lunch in The Red Lion, we took a quick tour of the town before catching the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railay back, before the drive home.

A very nice weekend away, packing a lot in! A few photos are below, the rest are here:

Day out in Camden with Frankie and Scarley

We had Frankie and Scarley staying with us for the weekend. On Saturday we took a trip to Camden for a walk round, then took a long stroll via the Regent's Canal (with a stop at Cafe Laville), passing feeding time of the African Hunting Dogs in London Zoo, and through Little Venice down to the newly re-developed Paddington basin. From there we headed through Regent's Park and back down to Oxford Circus before heading to Cabana at Stratford for some dinner, then heading home. A few photos from the day are below, the rest are here:
