Flower Carpets

We were walking around some back streets, when all of a sudden we came across this street Flower Carpet festival, a tradition that seems to have originated in Brussels (who were one of the teams). Another surprise in the back streets of Barcelona!

The Castells

We went to the Town Hall square on Saturday lunchtime to watch the traditional Castell human towers...we left before we saw the team whose attempt collapsed!!

On the beach

The beach is always good to visit in Barcelona, as you never know what you'll find, be it sculptures, beach volleyball, beach markets or cycling bars!

We were in town for the annual Merce celebrations which means there's always something going on somewhere in town!

Holiday to Barcelona

We went to Barcelona for a week in the sun, and visited a lot of our usual places, as well as some new ones such as the town of Sitges.

Paul's 50th Birthday celebrations

A large group of us congregated at Paul and Anne's to celebrate Paul's 50th Birthday in the week. It was a very good turn out, with Anne doing a great job catering for so many people. Paul kept everyone in drinks with enormous bottles of wine and Champagne. The red wine was an impressive 6 litre 'Imperial', which is the Bordeaux equivalent of the Champagne's Methuselah.

Athlete's Parade

Just made the tail end of the Team GB and Paralympic GB athlete's parade. A LOT of people there! Managed to take a few photos and a video...the end bit of the video with the red arrows was filmed off the TV!
