St Hans Celebrations in Dalselv

For St Hans (Midsummer, NOT the longest day, which is June 21st) celebrations in Norway, its traditional to have a bonfire, which we did, getting rid of some old trees and wood...then Olav decided to get rid of an old boat which REALLY went up well!!

Dalselv Boat Trips

We took some boat trips to go fishing as the weather was so good. The fishing wasn't too good, I managed to get a reasonable Cod (which went to Snuski the cat) and a Sei (or Coalfish as we know it), but the trip was good fun regardless.

First Week of Our Holiday - Staying at Dalselv

We arrived in Mo i Rana and soon headed off to the cabin for a few days. As the weather was so good, we stayed on a bit. Onkel and Cathrine drove down from further North to meet us. A good few days was had by all.

Early Father's Day dinner at The Ole Dog

To avoid the chaos of Father's Day lunch, we went out to The Olde Dog at Herongate on Saturday evening. This meant is was a bit more peaceful (no rush to leave the table) and we had a choice of the whole menu...though the lamb shank was gone before we could get it!

In the garden

Doing some gardening, there were bees all over one of our bushes in bloom, and after a while we noticed the robin back looking at the dug over ground.

Just back from a shopping trip at Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, and from the viewing gallery of John Lewis you get a good view of the Olympic Park.

Jubilations!

We had a Diamond Jubilee party in our back garden with Helen, Mark and Alex as well as Trudie, Mike, Joe and Eric. The mid-afternoon weather was fortunately fairly sunny, before a bit of rain, but we were luckily inside the party gazebo by then! We got suitably patriotic with lots of red, white and blue (including Siv's Norwegian flag!).
