Finnsnes Part 5 - Trips to the cabin

We spent a lot of our time up at Siv's Uncle and Aunt's cabin, a few miles from Ket's house where were staying. a lot of fun there with people in the water, rowing and a bit of fishing (the one fresh water salmon I caught was too small to keep, though the girls kept the one they got), as well as barbecues for all of the extended family there. It was a very relaxed atmosphere, with the various members of the family with the children and cats and dogs all up to different things.

Finnsnes Part 4 - Senja Tour

On the Sunday, Siv's uncle Per hired a bus and took 10 of us on a huge tour of Senja, stopping off at many places such as with a friend of Siw's at Baltsfjord, as well as Husøy which was very picturesque with dramatic scenery. We stopped of by a sandy beach where I again went for a dip in the sea....only slightly less cold this time round!!! On the way home we stopped of to see the Senja Troll!!

Finnsnes Part 3 - Trip to Stangnes

We took a trip out to visit Ket's Daughter out by Stangnes, and as it was warm and sunny we headed to the beach nearby where I went for a swim. The water was aound 10 - 12C - FREEZING, as the movies show!! We also visited some relatives of SIW and saw the old house there, which is still used as a visitors cottage.

Finnsnes Part 2 - Beach trip

As we were having some decent weather, we decided to go for a beach trip, of course, soon after we arrived and put the coffee on, it started raining!!!

Finnsnes Part 1 - Arrival in Tromsø

We arrived in Tromsø and were met by Siw and Olav and headed back to our hotel to relax a bit. Later that evening we went up the mountain cable car (Fjellheisen) where we got a stunning view of the City. When we came down the mountain, we had dinner at the restaurant Skarven. The following day, before heading off to Finnsnes, we went to the strangely shaped Polaria centre to see seals being fed and watching the stunning panoramic movie about Svalbard. We also had time for a quick drink in the bar attached to the Mack Brewery.

Spooky Spider

Found this spider trying to build a web....on the front of the fridge!! Looks pretty scary, but was only about 1 inch across!

Dinner at Carluccio's

With Mum unfortunately in Bart's Hospital for a short while, the rest of us have been visiting every day, and have now set up camp in the nearby Carluccio's restaurant for dinner. Here we are tonight chatting away. Lo-fi video courtesy of a Blackberry Curve 8900.

Thanks to Karin and James and the kids for my birthday present from the recent trip to Bateman's Brewery, here's me with one of my bottles of Valiant!

Mum and Dad's garden

Round Mum and Dad's today, took a few macro shots with my Lumix TZ7 in the garden, its not bad at macros for a compact camera.

Another sunny day...

Siv and I spent the day decorating the box room, but found some time in the afternoon to wish Liz and Rick a 'happy independence day' and sit in the garden. Took a few photos, including this one of the garden....an 8 second exposure taken at 10.15pm at night.

Lunchtime walk

Went for a walk to enjoy the sunshine through the Tower of London down to St. Katherine's Dock. Very hot out!
