Siv's Birthday weekend

It was Siv's birthday on Thursday, so there's been a few celebrations. On Friday night, the whole family went to Don Pietro for a meal. It was a very enjoyable evening, we were there for a long time...sadly June was unable to make it as she wasn't feeling too well.

While there, a couple at a nearby table took an interest when we were discussing Norway, and it turned out the woman, Liv, is from Ålesund, just across the fjord from Molde! She was there with her boyfriend Richard...an what was even more coincidental was that she lives just around the corner from our house on Eastern Avenue. She has regular 'Norwegian Ladies' evenings, and Siv is going to the next one in November.

On Saturday, Siv met up with Fi and Anne in town, where they had, food, drinks and shopping...They all had a very good time.

Hedda's Christening Part 2

On the Sunday, we went to Skedsmo Church for the Christening itself. It all went off well, and Hedda was very well behaved. After this we went off for a buffet lunch, where everyone from both sides of the family was able to get together.

Hedda's Christening Part 1

We're just back from a trip to Oslo to see Siv's family, for Hedda's Christening. We all got there on Friday, Siw and family had travelled down from Mo i Rana as well, so as you can see, it was quite a gathering.

Happy Birthday Selia!

A belated Happy Birthday to Selia, who was 6 on 15th September. Lots of love from Siv and Vince.

Fran and Kim in the eye of the storm!

Just got these photos from Fran and Kim in Texas, who escaped the worst of hurricane Ike, and as they have underground power lines in their area, they haven't suffered the power outages of other areas. Still it seems a lot of trees have been taken down in the storm.

Bumper apple crop!!

Its that time of year again to pick the cooking apples from the garden. A huge crop this year, and as Siv is off travelling today for a few days with work, I decided to bake an apple cake myself. The results are pretty good for a first attempt!!

Trip to Åland

Luke and I took a trip to Mariehamn in Åland, for part of the SEPA project. As usual it was quite quiet there...

Siv's weekend in Oslo with May-Britt

Siv and May-Britt had a very nice chatty, eaty, laughy, drinky weekend in Oslo. The weather was very nice on Friday, so they were able to sit outside enjoying lunch and beers up in Grunerlokka. Saturday it was a little more cloudy, but they were still able to have a long walk. All in all a very enjoyable weekend.

Forbidden Planet 30th Anniversary

Its comic shop Forbidden Planet's 30th Anniversary this weekend (crikey, I remember it opening!), so they're having some celebrations...it seems like they've had to beef up security!
