Siw and Olav staying with us

Siv and Olav have been staying with us for a few day. It was quite a hectic time starting on Friday with a walk through Hyde Park, before heading back through Mayfair, and getting something to eat at The Windmill (having one of their famous pies). Finally stopping off at Bar Italia for a coffee before heading home.

On Saturday, we did a two stop journey, heading first to Bury St. Edmunds, and taking in St. Mary's Church (home of the body of Mary Tudor) where a concert was taking place. We then walked past the Cathedral and the old Abbey grounds, before going into the town centre, passing the Nutshell pub, and having some food at the Scandinavian Cafe, before heading back to the car.
We Then headed onto Maldon, for a walk around the quayside, before stopping off for some food at The Jolly Sailor.

On Sunday we decided to go for a stroll on The South Bank, as the weather looked a little inclement, and our fears were realised when it started raining heavily, forcing us to take shelter in The Anchor!

A few photos from the weekend are below, the rest are here:

A walk in the breeze over Fairlop Water

We took a walk over Fairlop Water this evening. A bit breezy, so we had to keep up a brisk pace. Very pleasant though!

West Ham v Southampton

Another terrible West Ham performance today...the only positive was the very nice sunset as we left the stadium!

Wander through London

The late summer weather continued to be good, so I took a wander through London to see what was going on.
Walking from St. Pauls across the Millenium (wobbly) bridge passing the Floating Dreams art installation, I met up with my friend Dave and headed off to Trafalgar Square to take a few photos of the Malaysia Festival taking place there. After that we just wandered around, taking in the filming of Transformers 5 in the Mall and Radio 3's broadcasting from the Southbank where some swing dancing was taking place. We also passed a demonstration of people against the hunting of Elephants and Rhinos....a typical day out in London really!
Heading back I was able to get some good photos of a deserted Leadenhall Market, very different from how it looks in the week!
I took a lot of photos, a few are below, the rest are here:

Weekend in Brancaster Staithe for Caroline's 50th.

A large group of us went up to Brancaster Staithe to celebrate Caroline's 50th Birthday. We stayed at the very comfortable First Staithe Field which was well laid out for lots of fun (the mini snooker table was well used).
On Saturday evening we went for a meal at The Duck Inn in Stanhoe, which was extremely good, and being placed outside in their 'extension' meant it was OK if things got a bit boisterous!
Sunday morning started a bit grey, but then suddenly the grey skies lifted and we had a few hours of glorious sunshine, so we headed to the beach while Caroline, Ian and Barry prepared lunch. We were able to have lunch outside, which in September was a bonus, before finally heading off home.
