We went to The Harrow in Hornchurch to celebrate Liv's 60th Birthday. A very nice time spent out in the beer garden in the warm weather. A few photos are below, the rest are here:
With all the sunny weather recently, we've been able to head up to Fairlop Waters every day to take in the views and the wildlife. The Cinnabar Moth caterpillars are around now, and the usual geese, rabbits, dragon flies and butterflies too. A few photos are below, the rest are here:
Before the England v Tunisia World Cup game tonight, we managed to fit in a walk over Fairlop Waters. What looked like a disappointing walk for photos suddenly improved near the end with a Dragonfly and a Stag Beetle appearing.
I met up with Dave in town to do a bit of photography. We started off near Buckinham Palace to see the Trooping the Colour, followed by a red arrows fly past. After this we headed back into central London to wait for the naked bike ride which was also taking place today. Passing through Trafalgar Square and the surrounding area, there was a lot of police presence for a 'Free Tommy Robinson' rally taking place, which was very loud and rowdy. We didn't stick around for long, and headed to the Westminster Arms for a drink to wait for the bike riders, whose route was changed due to the problems in Trafalgar Square! We eventually caught up with the bike riders around Westminster Bridge, before they headed off for the rest of their journey. Saying goodbye to Dave, I jumped on a train to Southend, where I met up with a few of the others in Old Leigh for a drink, watching the container ships go past! After a week away, it seems like the garden had gone mad, with everything growing at a very fast rate. We spent most of this weekend tidying things up, so it;s looking a lot better. A lot of activity in the garden, with me nearly running a fledgling blackbird over with my lawnmower (luckily it ducked and we were able to move him a short distance where 'mum and dad' were able to keep feeding it), and lots of bee activity!
We're just back from Keswick, where we spent a few days in the Lake District enjoying the sunshine for PJ's 50th Birthday celebrations.
After a long drive up on the Friday, we met up with the first group of arrivals on Friday, before the majority turned up on Saturday. We went out a few times, including a long walk up Cat bells, as well as a walk around Derwent Water.
