Weekend update...

I went to the West Ham v Stoke game on Saturday with Grae, Gerkin and John Lewis. West Ham seemed to have sneakily narrowed the pitch and put advertising hoardings near the line....I guess in an attempt to restrict Rory Delap's throw ins, hoping to avoid this sort of thing! However it didn't seem to affect the outcome, and another defeat.

With a few minutes left, Grae and I headed for the Wakefield, for a game of pool before Gerkin and John turned up. It proved to be a wise move as we missed the downpour of rain at the end of the game.

After that, and a quick drink with PJ in The Spotted Dog, we headed off to Westcliff for dinner, where Siv was already with Fi and Harvey, and had a lovely roast dinner.

On Sunday, we went for a curry buffet lunch at The Shagor restaurant with PJ before coming home.

Valentines Park and Mansion

As it was a nice Spring day today, Siv and I went to Valentine's Park and onto Valentine's Mansion. In the park we saw some interesting Mandarin Ducks, had a coffee in the Mansion Cafe., and bought a few gifts in the Mansion gift shop. The park itself has had a major overhaul over the last couple of years, and is very pleasant to walk around.

Mother's Day

As it was Mother's day today, all the family went to The Village Bar and Grill in Hornchurch for a meal out and celebration. Despite being very crowded the service was good, and everyone had a good time.

On the way back from the party, it started snowing, and kept on snowing until we came home!!

Siw's 50th Birthday party at Babette's

Siw's birthday party was at local restaurant Babette's, and everyone had a great time, having a tapas style dinner followed by drinks in the next door bar area.

One of the more jokey gifts was a bucket of 300 Ikea tealights, which will keep Siw going for a week or two!

We won the 'who knows Siw best' competition!

Siw was presented with a a captain's hat along with money for a canal boat trip in the UK from PK and Jens.

During the good weather, we went to see the Havmann in the water, and at a visit to Bakeribygget for lunch and a quick look at the model of the old Moholmen area

Holiday in Mo i Rana

We're just back from a week's holiday in Mo i Rana, visiting Siw and family for her 50th birthday party. Despite the chilly weather when we arrived (minus 21 C!), it was sunny during first few days which was very pleasant for some walks down to the sea front.
